The Secret Adversary

It is just after World War One and Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley are desperately short of money. With jobs thin on the ground Tommy and Tuppence decide to form a partnership and hire themselves out as ‘young adventurers, willing to do anything, go anywhere’. When their first assignment, for the sinister Mr Whittington, puts both of them in mortal danger, they have to use all their ingenuity and cunning to save not only their own lives but also that of the mysterious ‘Jane Finn’.

Films: Adapted in 1928 by the Fox Film Corporation in Germany for the first screen version of an Agatha Christie work in 'Die Abenteur G.m.b.H.', which translates into Adventure, Inc. (See Die Abenteur Gmbh.) TV: Adapted in 1985 by LWT in England and also shown on PBS in the U.S.
