Publishing: First published in 1933 by William Collins Sons & Co. in London, and as 'Thirteen at Dinner' by Dodd, Mead & Co. in New York. Films: The first film version was released in 1934 by Real Arts in England, starring Austin Trevor in his third appearance as Hercule Poirot, with Jane Carr, Richard Cooper, Michael Shepley and John Turnbull also in the cast. TV: Adapted in 1985 as a 90-minute made-for-tv film named 'Thirteen for Dinner' by Warner Brothers. In this version Hercule Poirot meets the actress Jane Wilkinson when he appears on the David Frost tv show. It starred Peter Ustinov as Poirot, as well as Jonathan Cecil, Faye Dunaway, Lee Horsley and David Suchet as Inspector Japp, prior to the actor's own success as Poirot. The production was broadcast in 1986 on in the UK by LWT. The novel was also adapted with David Suchet as Poirot in 1999 by LWT in England and with A&E in the U.S.Notes and reviews
