THE UNEXPECTED GUEST

NATIONAL TOUR

We are proud to announce the second production from The Agatha Christie Theatre Company is now touring the UK. Following widespread critical acclaim for The Hollow, The Unexpected Guest is receiving rave reviews - yet another first class revival of a classic Christie play!

"a top notch production prepared by people who clearly understand and love her work"

The Cast:

The all star cast features Emmerdale’s Susan Penhaligon, joined by Soldier Soldier star Ben Nealon, EastEnders favourite Dean Gaffney, Derren Nesbitt who is best known for his role in the action drama Where Eagles Dare, BBC and MTV star Richard Blackwood and two of the country’s best loved performers, Mark Wynter and Virginia Stride.

The Unexpected Guest is directed by Joe Harmston, whose West End credits include The Birthday Party (starring Timothy West and Prunella Scales) and The Collection & The Lover at the Donmar (by and starring Harold Pinter), and who has also directed sell-out national tours of The Blue Room, The Kingfisher and Relative Values.

The Plot:

Lost in the fog on a lonely road, a stranger seeks refuge in a nearby house, only to find that he has stumbled onto the scene of a murder! When the dead man’s wife confesses to killing her much despised husband, the stranger agrees to provide her with an alibi. But, who is he really protecting? And, in a house full of suspects, whose are the unidentified fingerprints found at the scene?

Credited as one of Agatha Christie’s most mischievous and chilling whodunnits, The Unexpected Guest is filled with all the suspense, intrigue and surprise twists that make Christie one of the world’s best-loved authors and the undisputed first lady of crime.

Our Editor's Review:

Unlike most Christie plays which end with a surprise, the new Agatha Christie Theatre Company version of The Unexpected Guest opens with a shock, one that took most of the audience completely by surprise. And the suspense keeps up until the final curtain. Don’t say you weren’t warned! Read the full review here
