Post title: Blacker is wrong

No one complains about the new adaptations more than I do, and this fine blog post by Lee Goldberg (best known for his work with Monk), illustrates the attitudes that screenwriters may hold towards the original source material.  Please pay special attention to screenwriter Irwin R. Blacker's dictum regarding the original source material- it exemplifies everything so many of us have been complaining about lately:

Ugh, that's disgusting... I don't get that he wants to adapt a book but at the same time doesn't want to make it the same as the book, if you know what I mean. People like that should just write their own stuff, rather than vandalising other good worls. It seems to be a classier version of scrawling in a library book: putting your own work into it, but ruining it for everyone else who wants to enjoy it...
