Welcome to agathachristie.com. By using agathachristie.com, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all these Terms, you may not access or use Agathachristie.com and should exit immediately. If you are below the age of 13 then please get a parent's or guardian's permission before using Agathachristie.com.

Agathachristie.com is owned and managed by Agatha Christie Limited (a Chorion company) ("ACL"). Any changes to these Terms shall be effective immediately following the posting of any such changes on Agathachristie.com. Please review these Terms regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes made by ACL. Your continued use of Agathachristie.com after changes are posted means you agree to be legally bound by these Terms as updated and amended.

3. Ownership and Restrictions

Agathachristie.com, its design and contents including all text based, still and motion video, audio and audio visual material, code and / or software (“the Materials”) are owned by ACL or its applicable third parties. You agree not to modify, copy, reproduce, broadcast, republish, sell, resell, exploit, create derivative works or distribute in any way any portion of Agathachristie.com or the Materials. Nothing contained in these terms shall be construed as conferring by implication, estoppel or otherwise any licence or right to use any trade mark, patent, design right or copyright of ACL or of Agathachristie.com. ACL, Agatha Christie™ and any other copyrights, trademarks and proprietary rights on Agathachristie.com are the property of ACL unless otherwise stated. Any unauthorised use of these marks is unlawful. All content on this web site, including, without limitation, all programs, interface layout, interface text, documentation and graphics, animations, video clips, downloadables is the copyrighted protection of ACL (or as otherwise stated) and is protected by international copyright law. The content on Agathachristie.com may be used by you only for your personal use as provided in these Terms, but may not be taken out of context or presented in a misleading or discriminatory manner.

If you download any Material from this Site, the Material, including any images or files included in or generated by the Material and data accompanying the Material is subject to the limited licence set out below. You may not distribute, sell or transmit the Material and you are not permitted to alter, modify or adapt it. You are granted a personal, limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access Agathachristie.com and use Agathachristie.com and the Materials, provided that you do not, and do not allow any third party, to modify or create a derivative work of, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to discover any source code in software available on Agathachristie.com. The grant of this limited licence is conditional upon your agreement to and compliance with all of these Terms. ACL may revoke this licence at any time and in its absolute discretion.

If you upload any Material to this site, you shall be deemed to grant ACL full ownership of the Material including worldwide copyright.  ACL shall be entitled to make use of the uploaded Material as it sees fit, without any need to obtain your permission.

4. Privacy Statement

For UK users: ACL is keen to strike a fair balance between your personal privacy and ensuring you obtain full value from Agathachristie.com. We are fully registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act") and to ensure we comply with the protection the Act affords to you we have set out how we intend to utilise the information provided by you and when you register via Agathachristie.com. Agathachristie.com respects your privacy and is committed to complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.  Agathachristie.com provides you with this policy so that you may understand the ways in which it does and does not use the information you transmit when visiting its website.  

Agathachristie.com strongly encourages anyone under the age of 18 to get permission from their parents before sending any personal information about themselves over the Internet, and urges parents to discuss with their children restrictions regarding the online release of personal information to anyone they do not know

What Information is Collected. When you register as a user with Agathachristie.com, we ask you to provide us with your name, email address and other personal information that will be needed to supply the services to you. You can "unsubscribe" at any time. We may use your personal data for contacting you via letter or email for newsletters, support, notification of new products or new versions, general correspondence regarding Agathachristie.com and correspondence which may relate to you. If you would rather not receive future marketing emails from us once you have registered please inform us by updating your details on the registration page. Use and Disclosure of Information

The personally identifiable information collected will only be used for the express purpose for which it was collected.  If agathachristie.com becomes aware that it has inadvertently received personally identifiable information from a customer under the age of thirteen, other than in a legally permissibly situation, it will delete the information from its records as soon as it is discovered.  agathachristie.com currently does not disclose to third parties personally identifiable information that children provide, except that from time to time, it may transfer, disclose or share such information with third parties who may be engaged by it specifically to administer its website or handle and deliver certain online activities (e.g., conducting contests).  These third parties only have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, may not use it for other purposes and have agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of the information.  Additionally, in the event that all or substantially all of the assets relating to agathachristie.com are transferred or sold to another entity, personally identifiable information submitted to it may be transferred to the acquiring entity.  Agathachristie.com may also disclose personally identifiable information to third parties in order to comply with federal, state or local laws, in response to requests by law enforcement agencies, to enforce its Terms and Conditions or to protect the rights, property or safety of its users of its website and others.

This Site is provided for your information and entertainment purposes only. When you register on the Site, you warrant that all the details you supply, including, without limitation, your name and email address are accurate, that you are authorised to use the email address that you give and that you are at least thirteen (13) years old. 7. User Obligations 

You agree to follow all applicable laws and regulations when using Agathachristie.com. You agree that you shall not: i) upload, post or transmit through or to Agathachristie.com any content that is unlawful abusive or threatening; might infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights or proprietary rights of others; ii) upload, post or transmit through or to Agathachristie.com any viruses, worms, Trojan horses, worms and any other harmful components; iii) disrupt or interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any area of Agathachristie.com, its computer systems or networks; iv) provide false information about yourself to us, impersonate any other person or otherwise attempt to mislead others about your identity or origin of content; v) transmit junk mail, chain letters or other unsolicited bulk email or duplicative messages; or vi) collect information about other visitors to Agathachristie.com without their consent or otherwise systematically extract data or data fields, including without limitation any financial data or email addresses

The forum is moderated by Agatha Christie Limited.  Abusive posts will be taken down, and persistent abusers will be permanently denied access to the forum, without notice. 

Christie Talk Rules and Regulations

These rules have been posted to protect users of the forum and to make things better for everyone so please take time to read them.

- Please check to see if there is already a topic started for the subject you want to talk about and if there is then add to that one. If you start a new and very similarly named one it will only be removed.

- Keep your contribution to the topic being discussed. If you want to say something else start a new topic.

- If you are starting a new topic make it a descriptive, relevant and easily understood title. For instance ‘Discuss Tommy & Tuppence’ is more likely to get a response than ‘I wanna say something’.

- Try to use proper punctuation and paragraphs: it makes it much easier for people to read and understand.

- Don’t copy chunks of previous postings and paste them into your posting. This clutters up the topic so instead, if you need to, just refer to a previous person’s posting.

- Keep things friendly – no swearing or rudeness please. Objectionable posts are not acceptable.

- Be patient for a reply. If you don’t get one it’s probably because nobody knows the answer.

- If you give away endings to books (Spoilers) please tag your post as such. We are all huge Agatha Christie fans but we haven’t all read every book.

- Be tolerant: not everyone on the site has English as a first language.

- We advise that you never reveal any personal information about yourself or anyone else (for example: telephone number, home address or email address), and please do not include postal addresses of any kind. If you use your email address as your user name please change it.

- This site is for Agatha Christie fans to talk to each other on all matters Christie. Please don’t use this site as a personal forum.

9. Severance

If any of these Terms are determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable by reason of the laws of any state or country in which these Terms are intended to be effective, then to the extent and within the jurisdiction in which that term is illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and deleted from these terms and the remaining terms shall survive, remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute under these Terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. We recommend you print out a full copy of these terms and conditions for your own records. Mystery Man game 2011

1.Entry only via emailing christiecompetition@chorion.co.uk  Your email address will not be used for any purpose other than to contact you should you win. The competition is open to any person worldwide.

2.Entries to be received no later than 12 noon Thursday 15th September 2011. Late entries cannot be accepted.  The promoter accepts no responsibility for internet technical problems that prevent the receipt of entry before the closing date.

3. The winner of the prize will need to correctly identify the Mystery Figure. Agatha Christie Ltd will select the winner by a single random draw from a pool of all correct entrants.

4.The winner will be notified by email and announced on the agathachristie.com website and Facebook page after Christie Week 2011.  The winner authorises the promoter to use their name for publication on the website and on Facebook and Twitter.

5.There will be one prize awarded: Every Christie novel currently published by HarperCollins US (approx retail value $1000) will be awarded to the selected winning entry. Novels will be the current trade paperback editions by HarperCollins US and titles from the series yet to be released will be fulfilled as and when they are published. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash, and the promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize in the event of unavailability.

TEN to win TEN’ Sweepstakes OFFICIAL RULES

No Purchase Necessary to Enter or Win.  Making a purchase will not increase your chances of winning.

The ‘Ten to win TEN’ (the “Sweepstakes”) starts at 12:00 PM Eastern Time (“ET”) on Thursday 14, 2011 and ends at 12:00 PM ET on October 4, 2011 (the “Sweepstakes Period”).

Eligibility: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (excluding Rhode Island) and the District of Columbia thirteen (13) years of age as of date of date of entry (the “Entrant(s)”).  Residents of Rhode Island are not eligible. Mail in Entry: During the Sweepstakes Period, send a 3x5 card with your name, mailing address, e-mail address and date of birth to ‘Ten to win TEN’ Sweepstakes, 25 West 39th Street, New York, NY 10018, to be received by Sponsor no later than October 11, 2011.  The information contained on the card will only be used for notification and eligibility confirmation purposes.  Entrants may only enter once during the Sweepstakes Period.  Multiple entries from any entrant during the Sweepstakes Period will be void.  Entries submitted using any kind of bot or automated technology will be deleted.  All entries become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned.

Random Drawing. Ten (10) winners will win a prize. Prizes. Each winner will receive the first ten (10) Agatha Christie novels (trade editions) released by HarperCollins US (Approximate Retail Value of all prizes: $1,300.00).  No prize substitution, transfer or cash redemption allowed, except at Sponsors’ sole discretion.  All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.  Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value, in their sole discretion.  If winner is an eligible minor in his/jurisdiction of residence, prize will be awarded in the name of parent/legal guardian who must sign and return all required documents. 

Claiming Prize:  All properly claimed prizes will be awarded. The winner is responsible for all applicable taxes and must sign an affidavit of eligibility and compliance with rules/release, and all other applicable forms required by a taxing authority within ten (10) days of receipt of written prize notification or prizes will be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. Limitations of Liability. By participating, Entrants (or, if eligible minors, their parents or legal guardians) agree to release and hold harmless Sponsors, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, employees and agents of each of the foregoing (collectively, the “Released Parties”) for any injuries, damages, expenses or losses that may be sustained in connection with participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize awarded herein.
